IT Assistant to the Technology Department. I.T. experience required

 

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the Director of Technology, to maintain the school district's Information Technology (IT) in operating condition, meeting the technology needs of the district; including the Installation, configuration, maintenance, administration, troubleshooting & repair of IT hardware, software & networks.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day IT infrastructure
    • Install, configure, maintain, administer, troubleshoot & repair IT hardware, software & networks, and phones including: laptops, desktops, workstations, software, printers, user accounts, permissions, physical and virtual servers, AD/DNS/DHCP, Exchange, routers, switches, firewalls, VOIP, smartphones, peripherals, cameras, updates & patches, LANs, WANs, Internet, network services & intranet systems.
  • Ensure security & efficiency of IT infrastructure
    • Maintain integrity & preservation of the network, servers, & system security
    • Monitoring system performance & troubleshooting issues
  • Provides technical support
    • Troubleshoot/repair problems reported by users
    • Assesses malfunctions of hardware for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to maintain computer & network operations
    • Provide phone & location support for district users
    • Assists in training selected individuals for the purpose of ensuring their ability to use computer systems & new or existing software
  • Keep inventory of equipment, software, & licenses
    • Assists in record-keeping & inventory of the school district's computers & related equipment, repairs, etc.
    • Assists in making recommendations regarding the purchase of new equipment.
    • Assists in ensuring compliance with licensing laws

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of computer hardware & software, LAN, WAN, Servers, E-Mail, Internet, other computer network programs & operations
  • Ability to inspect, assess, troubleshoot & repair computer network system, hardware & software
  • Analytical, problem-solving & creative-thinking skills with respect to computer-related issues
  • Identify & prioritize tasks & needs
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to follow/carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
  • Communicate effectively with personnel of all levels and functions
  • Ability to establish & maintain cooperative working relationship with staff & others 
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelors’ degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field AND at least one of the following certifications; A+, Net+, MCP, or one of the certifications plus two years of related experience. Appropriate job experience related to this position may be an acceptable substitute. MCP preferred
  • Knowledge & experience in LAN/WAN, Active Directory, Servers, & Windows
  • Knowledge & experience with Windows PC configuration, & Chromebooks troubleshooting & repair
  • Excellent customer service philosophy & communications skills
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License and ability to provide own transportation as well as transporting hardware when needed.
  • Additional Duties: Performs other related tasks as assigned.

    Travel Requirements:  Travel to school district locations to repair hardware, install software & assist end users.
    Evaluation Procedure:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of Board’s policy.
